Past Conferences


From 1973 to 1980 annual RIdIM meetings were held at the Research Centre for Music Iconography at The City University New York (CUNY). This tradition of wide-reaching meetings with an International scope continued with the conferences, symposiums and scholarly meetings:
  • De l’image à l’objet: La méthode critique en iconographie musicale, held in Paris in 1985, held in memory of Madame Geneviève Thibault de Chambure (1902–1975), proceedings published in Imago musicae IV (1987)
  • Imago musicae: Musikkultur im Spiegel der bildenden Kunst, held in Hamburg in 1991, selection of papers published in Musikalische Ikonographie. Ed. Harald Heckmann, Monika Holl, and Hans Joachim Marx (Laaber: Laaber-Verlag, 1994).
  • Music, Body, and Stage: The Iconography of Music Theater and Opera, held in New York in 2008, selected papers published in Music in Art XXXIII (2008) and XXXIV (2009).
  • Enhancing Music Iconography research: Considering the current, setting new trends, held in Salvador de Bahia in 2011, publication of proceedings in prepration.
  • Study Day of Association RIdIM  as part of the 19th International Congress of the IMS in Rome (July 1-7, 2012),  papers delivered by Richard Leppert, Angela Bellia, Theodore E. Ulieiu-Rostás and Pablo Sotuyo Blanco.
